Start with their lunch offerings where freshness shines. The Chili Dog at just $3.75 is a flavorful, classic indulgence, while the Reuben delivers the perfect balance of savory corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, and melted cheese at a wallet-friendly price. Mini Tacos offer a bite-sized punch of zest, and the Cowboy Burger, priced at $4.95, boasts a juicy, perfectly seasoned patty that’s sure to satisfy any burger lover’s cravings.
When the evening rolls in, Dairy Keen’s dinner entrees elevate comfort dining. The Philly Steak stands out with tender strips of steak nestled in a soft bun, layered with melted cheese and sautéed peppers, creating that mouthwatering, hearty flavor Tiffany McLaughlin raved about. The Chicken Filet and the more generous Chicken Dinner offer options for poultry lovers, each prepared to juicy perfection. Those seeking something a bit more adventurous will appreciate the crispy, golden Shrimp and Fries or the richly flavored Gizzards, a local favorite that speaks to the authentic, down-to-earth feel of the menu.
But what truly sets Dairy Keen apart is their legendary ice cream, a treat so beloved that longtime customer Liam calls their “rough necks” the greatest ice cream treats on earth. The classic Vanilla Ice Cream, complemented perfectly by fresh fruit flavors like Raspberry, offers a taste that transports you back to simpler times. This sentiment is echoed by Ann Williams, who fondly compares Dairy Keen’s ice cream and ambiance to cherished childhood memories at her hometown “Snow Queen.”
Dairy Keen feels like a place where every bite is a reminder of community, care, and comfort. From the crispy, deep-fried pork tenderloin sandwich that Bobbie Lassiter praises to the joyful simplicity of an ice cream cone on a sunny day, this eatery captures the heart of small-town America. Whether you’re seeking a nostalgic flavor journey or a satisfying meal after a day on the road, Dairy Keen promises a dining experience filled with flavor, warmth, and a true sense of home.
For anyone passing through Wisner or looking to indulge in genuine, no-frills American dining paired with exceptional ice cream, Dairy Keen at 1212 Avenue E is a stop that will leave you happy, full, and eager to return.
So glad we stopped in to grab a bite to eat cause it did not disappoint at all. I had Philly steak and it was so good and everything so fresh not frozen or freezer burnt. My other half had the 1/2 lb cheeseburger and was hands down the best he has had in a long time. We will stop in again for sure our next trip. Highly recommend to anyone. Thanks again!!!
I’ve gone to Dairy Keen since I was very young. The food is great, service is excellent, and the rough necks are the great ice cream treat on earth. If you ever go through wisner or are even close to wisner, stop by Dairy Keen!
Quintessential small town ice cream shop. Top notch.
Deep Fat Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich comes plain but you can get it your way. Cheese balls looked like tater tots which means they are biggish. Friendly staff, clean restaurant.
This place took me back to my childhood and the place in my home town similar in size and smell called the "Snow Queen." My 18 year old and I stopped on our way from Wayne to Lincoln for a quick snack and both had ice cream. Even the ice cream tasted the same! Thank you Dairy Keen for being open and serving your community and those of us passing through!
Stopped here while pedaling through on the Cowboy Trail. After pitching my tent at the Wisner River Campground I headed into town for a bite to eat. I love stopping at little places like this. I could tell from a block away this was the place to eat! Food was great, service was excellent. Pleasant atmosphere to relax after pedaling all day.
Delicious food, great service and its a small business , who doesn't like to support small friendly businesses who make the communities a better place. Ill stop by every time I'm in town.
This is a family owned business. Not all that big inside but does have enough seating for off busy times last like lunch. They do a lot of carry out business for farmers and other people working in the area. The menu is small with daily specials. The food is excellent at a very reasonable price. Also have of course ice cream and very good deserts.
